B. WOMEN'S PROJECTS:

B-1 Woman to Woman Project/Afghanistan:

This project was established in 2002. In this program, an American family sponsors an Afghan widow of war family with $120.00 a year ($10/ mo). HIPP uses that money to purchase tools and equipment such as sewing machines etc, for those widows of war to work with and generate an ongoing income for their families. In this way, the family becomes self supported. HIPP assigns a designated family for each donor and provide family pictures and letters back to the sponsor family and vice versa.

The first field project was the establishment of a sewing center for widows of war in Shullana village, Chaparhar District, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, with support from the people of Nebraska, USA.

Women Literacy Education Project

This program was initiated in 2002. The first project was initiated in Shullana Village, Chaparhar. In this center, 15 widows of war and 20 young girls aged 10 and older are studying. These girls are prohibited by their parents to go to regular schools due to the lack of female teachers, school distance from their homes and other cultural reasons.

C. YOUTH PROJECTS

C-1 Youth Education Sponsorship (YES) Project:

This is a new project established in January 2003. The goal of this program is to encourage Afghan and non-Afghan youth to sponsor a school child’s educational expenses with $5.00/mo. HIPP will find and assign a child in Afghanistan for you and will provide you with the child’s picture and exchange correspondence between you and your Brother / Sister in Humanity. Click here for more detailed information and a enrollment application.

C-2 MNM Club of America:

This project, "Mothers for the New Millennium Club of America" (MNM Club) was initiated in September of 1999 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. The idea of the program is to promote abstinence from sexual activity before marriage and prevent the use of illicit drugs among youth. This is a peer support program versus peer pressure for youth. Currently the club is only for young ladies, but we are in the process of establishing the same type of club for boys, as well.

C-3 Back to My Cradle:

This is an Afghan youth program established in January of 2002. The goal of the program is to recruit, support and manage groups of Afghan youth residing in the West to go to Afghanistan to assist in rebuilding the country and to inspire the people towards peace and democracy. Three teams have been sent to Afghanistan. They assisted Nangarhar University, Amarkhyl School and Nangarhar Medical College, supplying them with computers, books, software, and other audio visual and teaching materials.
